The first edition was launched in October 2018, and naively I dropped it without testing it on real readers. Since then I’ve gathered feedback, shuffled things around, cut some fat and as a result the second edition is easier to read and delivers reader value “practical stuff” earlier.

The bigger news though is that since writing the book there have been some interesting developments surrounding The Way Within and for me as its author. First, research from the world of psychology has validated the practices that this book promotes. Second, thanks to feedback from my readers and by working with a new editor, I’ve been able to make the book easier to read. Third, my personal situation has improved beyond all measure as I’ve grown from knowing into being.

Scientific research into enlightenment supports the Way Within

The validation comes from the work of Dr. Jeffery A. Martin and his research in the field of Persistent Non-Symbolic Experience (PNSE), which is the scientific term for enlightenment. Jeffery used his research to develop the Finders Course, which takes insights from PNSE research, and presents the associated practices as a practical, secularized and easy to follow course for anyone seeking fundamental wellbeing. The Finders Course was also designed to be a rich source of additional research for Jeffery which has enabled him to validate and refine the best techniques for transitioning seekers into finders.

The Finders Course is now, after thousands of successful applications, a research proven protocol for transitioning people into an enlightened state of mind. One of the practices taught by the Finders Course is the Headless Way, and the same Headless practices are at the heart of The Way Within. From my conversations with Finders Course participants, consensus is that Headless-ness is the most effective and expedient PNSE practice so far studied. This is also borne out by the latest iteration of the course which dropped 50% of the original Finders Course content but doubled down on Headless-ness! In other words, The Way Within is not just a book about enlightenment, it offers its readers effective, efficient and scientifically proven techniques for achieving an enlightened state of mind.

Persistent forms of nondual awareness, enlightenment, mystical experience, and so forth (Persistent Non-Symbolic Experience) have been reported since antiquity. Though sporadic research has been performed on these experiences, the scientific literature has yet to report a large-scale cognitive psych…
